All of the three social media platforms are believed to be suffering technical glitches across the world. As Instagram and WhatsApp, as well as Facebook, since the three use shared infrastructure. Hope it is not a cyber-attack. At 8:30PM IST, each of WhatsApp, Facebook and Instagram have been inactive for nearly over an hour.
Users are unable to download media in their WhatsApp messages. At the same time, Facebook and Instagram too are suffering from outages. The problem it seems is with Facebook servers, which power all three services. The problem seems to be more in South America and Europe.
"As a result of a server configuration change, many people had trouble accessing our apps and services," Facebook posted on Twitter after that previous outage was fixed. "We've now resolved the issues and our systems are recovering. We’re very sorry for the inconvenience and appreciate everyone’s patience."
In India, while the WhatsApp chat interface and Instagram posts and stories are active, transferring any form of media, including audio and images, appear to be frozen for now. Sending of files are still active, hinting that this may be some sort of a widespread server bug that is preventing individuals from downloading content that has been shared with them.
