Wipro wins Three State Mission Mode Projects

Wipro Infotech has won three State Mission Mode projects for Data Centers from Maharashtra, West Bengal and Gujarat. The prestigious wins from three of the larger states are an endorsement of Wipro's leadership position in the domestic IT space based on strong technology expertise, process excellence and superior execution capabilities.

Commenting on the wins, Ranbir Singh, Head, Government Vertical, Wipro, said, "The Government is focussing its energies in improving the delivery of services to citizens, transparently managing and reporting on public expenditure and improving the effectiveness of interactions within various government entities. We plan to deploy IT systems and services that are extremely robust, scalable and flexible, and in keeping with global best practices in infrastructure management."

The Maharashtra project is for building the State Data Center spread across approximately 3,000 sq. ft., including commissioning and managing the Data Center for a period of five years. The West Bengal Project is for design, build and management of the West Bengal Data Center (IT and non-IT components) for a period of five years. The Gujarat project is for upgrade and commissioning of the Gujarat State Data Center. The Gujarat SDC will act as the Disaster Recovery site for the localized applications running at four Mini Data Centers for providing online services to urban and rural citizens.

The projects assume significance in the light of State Data Centres (SDCs) emerging as one of the key elements of the core infrastructure required for the National eGov Plan (NeGP).
