ZTE Obtains CA Authorisation

ZTE Corporation has obtained Conditional Access (CA) authorisation from global conditional access system (CAS) vendor Nagravision, enabling the company to access and develop technology for digital television (DTV) services.

According to the agreement, ZTE will be authorised by Nagravision for interconnection with Nagravision's DTV system. As a result of the authorisation, ZTE will have wider access to the markets in which Nagravision operates, providing intelligent set-top boxes (STBs) to Nagravision customers around the world.

ZTE Vice President Chen Xinyu said, "In light of the current trend of convergence between DTV and IPTV, the collaboration between ZTE and Nagravision provides live channels with DTV and interactive services with IPTV/OTT systems. This is a crucial step in our path of exploring European DTV markets and helps ZTE strengthen its IPTV-DTV hybrid end-to-end solution capability.”

Nagravision provides CAS for 120 television operators worldwide, accounting for an 18 percent share of the worldwide cable pay TV markets and a 70 percent share of the European market. Its highly reliable and secure end-to-end digital media technologies for service providers have gained credit from worldwide DTV providers and are widely applied in Europe, South America, Africa and Asia. Nagravision’s customers include major operators in France, Germany, the UK and other multinational telecom operators worldwide.
