Canva is demonstrating that generative AI does not necessarily replace established software platforms. Instead, AI assistants such as ChatGPT and Claude are becoming new gateways that can bring users into collaborative applications.
Canva says AI-generated ideas and drafts can flow into its platform, where users refine, brand, edit, collaborate and publish them. Its Claude integration, for example, converts AI-generated drafts into fully editable Canva designs.
The scale is significant. OneLittleWeb analyzed 9,531 AI tools and estimated 144.5 billion web visits between May 2025 and April 2026, up 40.12% year over year.
Canva ranked second with 10.5 billion visits, behind only ChatGPT’s 64.7 billion. Gemini recorded 6.9 billion, followed by DeepSeek at 3.8 billion, Claude at 3.4 billion and Grok at 2.5 billion.
Canva’s advantage is its workflow. AI chatbots can rapidly produce first drafts, while Canva provides the environment for iterative editing, visual refinement, brand control and teamwork.
The company is strengthening its position with Canva AI 2.0, designed around conversational creation, agentic editing and fully editable outputs.
The broader lesson is clear: AI may not eliminate established applications—it can become their next distribution channel. Platforms that own the final workflow can potentially turn chatbot-generated ideas into sustained user engagement.
