Synology has unveiled DiskStation DS411j, a 4-bay full-featured NAS server dedicated to backups and data sharing and available at an attractive price tag for home and small office users.

Equipped with 1.2GHz and less than 3 watts CPU, the DS411j is powerful yet energy-efficient. The fully loaded DS411j consumes merely 42.9W in operation and even 16W when it hibernates, which facilitates extension of hard drive life as well. Power consumption can be further decreased by scheduling power on and off. The DS411j comes with 128MB DDRII RAM, one Gigabit LAN port and two USB ports.

"This multitalented and affordable DS411j is ideal for home users who need a storage and multimedia centre to back up data and to enjoy their digital content via different gadgets," said Chad Jiang, Product Manager, Synology.

The DS411j works seamlessly with smartphones such as iPhone and Android phones, making terabytes of multimedia content easily available at users' fingertips. In addition to the ubiquitous access, mobile devices' users can upload their photos and videos to the DS411j.

The DS411j is also a great fit for home and small business users to share and back up files across Windows, Linux, and Mac. Synology Data Replicator 3 application allows Windows users effortlessly to back up their desktop data and emails, while Mac's users can leverage Apple's Time Machine to back up to the DS411j. The unique Synology Hybrid RAID technology empowers users with very little RAID knowledge to optimize their storage capacity and secure data redundancy. Encrypted data transmission, HTTPS, the built-in firewall, and IP auto-block supports ensure file sharing over the Internet is well protected.
