Zebra Technologies has experienced a winning year in 2010 due to increased adoption of barcode labelling and smart card printing in the manufacturing, healthcare and retail sectors as well as increased government projects. For the coming few years, Zebra will focus on the emerging markets like India, Middle East, China and Brazil. Since Q4 2010, Zebra has started building roadways into tier two and three cities through customer education and awareness initiatives.

Zebra conducted events in industrial tier three cities of Baddi and Visakhapatnam to spread awareness of various global trends and applications for barcoding and mobility in the manufacturing industry. In addition, Zebra conducted a Government-focussed vertical event in Gandhinagar to educate the sector on the effective usage of automatic identification and data capture (AIDC) and card technologies in various applications. The event discussed major global trends and best practices of card printing and card security, an extremely important topic given various card projects initiated by the Government.

"The Indian market is unique and we see 2011 as a year of meaningful growth. We expect to gain momentum in the financial, retail, healthcare and government sectors. In addition, we estimate the card printing market to grow by 30 per cent over the next three to five years," said Ram Ramaprasad, Director of Product Management, Zebra Technologies.

Zebra Technologies also participated in a VRL Financial banking event in Mumbai where Ramaprasad shared Zebra's offerings in the banking, financial services and insurance (BFSI) sector and how banks can benefit from retransfer printing.
