Google has rolled out major upgrades to its AI Mode in Search, enhancing the way users interact with its AI-powered search tools. The latest update introduces live video queries via Google Lens, PDF document analysis, and a dynamic Canvas tool for smarter planning, making Google Search more interactive and versatile.
According to Google’s blog post, these updates will roll out gradually, starting in the United States, and aim to integrate AI Mode more deeply with Gemini, Google’s advanced AI assistant, while improving compatibility with Chrome and Google Drive.
One of the most significant additions is the expansion of Search Live. Initially launched for voice queries, this feature now supports real-time video interactions. Users can open the Google app, tap the Live icon in Lens, and ask questions about objects or scenes they see. The AI will analyze the live video feed and provide contextual responses.
Another major feature is PDF analysis. Desktop users can now upload PDFs and use AI Mode to extract insights, summarize content, or answer specific questions. Google also confirmed plans to extend support for more file formats and seamless integration with Google Drive, streamlining document-related workflows.
The Canvas tool is another notable addition, designed for creating structured plans such as travel itineraries, study schedules, or event outlines. When relevant queries are entered, users will see a “Create Canvas” option, opening a side panel where plans can be customized through follow-up questions. Future updates will include personalized planning using user-uploaded documents like class notes or work files.
Additionally, AI Mode will now integrate with Chrome, allowing users to select “Ask Google about this page” from the address bar. This opens a side panel where the AI can answer questions about on-screen content, enhancing browsing efficiency.
With these AI-driven updates, Google is redefining the search experience by blending live interaction, document analysis, and dynamic planning, positioning itself as a leader in multi-modal AI search solutions.
